Mani Ratnam - The Man Who First Opened My Eyes to The World of Art
This blog is a humble tribute to my most favourite filmmaker of all time - Mani Ratnam. If there's anyone who can truly be called the greatest Indian mainstream filmmaker without compromising on the artistic perspective of cinema, it's him. Sure, there have been many legendary filmmakers in India, like Ray and Adoor, who have incredible cinematic sensibilities, and I totally agree with that. But in the present time, in my view, there's no one who has mastered the art of staging, visual storytelling, and cinematography quite like Mani Ratnam. And he does it all while maintaining a natural aesthetic, nothing in his films ever looks plastic. I could talk about his films all day, and let's not forget, the man has sculpted 28 films! But to keep this blog short and crisp, I’m going to discuss only a very few scenes, from just a few of his films. Also, I challenged myself not to rewatch anything.
